To improve chat performance

The chat network flickers while it is lost, there are many nicknames but it is impossible to log in at the same time, or want to transform your avatar into yours. If you use Yahoo! Messenger 8.1 is all possible through the instructions below.

Fix error cannot log in

Sometimes the computer's Internet connection signal is fine but you have trouble logging into YM. When in trouble, you can try the following steps to fix:

- From the YM window, go to the Messenger menu and select Prefrences .

- Yahoo! Messenger Prefrences opens you to select Connection in the left pane. In the right frame there are 4 options. Normally, the default will be in the No Proxies option. But in case you cannot log in, you can replace with Firewall with no proxies option . Click OK and try logging in again to check the results. If you still can't log in successfully, switch to the No network detection option and try logging in again. If the results still fail, then perhaps Yahoo's computer is having problems. You should wait a few minutes to try logging in again.

Prevent viruses from spreading through messages

You probably know about messages containing viruses in links with click invitations. Such messages are sent from user accounts on infected machines that can detect nicknames on the ID owner's list. If your computer is also infected but has not yet used an antivirus program to clean up, then you can prevent the spread of messages from your list by:

- At YM window, select Messenger and select Prefences .

- Yahoo! Messenger Prefrences appear. In the left pane, choose to Messages . Here, on the right, press Pressing Enter in a Message widows , select the Inserts a new line in the message option and click OK .

Complete this operation, whenever the virus automatically spreads the message, if you do not click the Send button, the virus will not be able to spread the messages containing the virus link on its own. Therefore, you will prevent the virus from spreading. However, in case your computer is not infected with virus or has cleaned up the virus, it should be reset to the Sends a Message option by default if not in chat, you will have to press the Send button to send the message instead of press Enter button as usual.

Automatically save message content

To save the content of your chats, choose the following:

- From the YM window, select Messenger and select Prefences .

- Yahoo! Messenger Prefrences appear. In the left pane, choose to Archive . Here, in the right pane, check Yes, save all of my messages and click OK .

At the end of this fairly simple setup step, you can completely re-read the conversation with someone, you just need to find his or her nickname if you want.

Share your chat avatar

A small image with each YM account used to represent you. So you can see Avatar on your YM friends list.

In case you want to get a similar image of your friend to be an avatar, then in addition to asking for that image, you can visit http://img.msg.yahoo.com/avatar.php?yids=NickName where NickName is the name of the ID you want to get Avatar.

For example, if you want to get nick's avatar 12345 then you will use the link back to http://img.msg.yahoo.com/avatar.php?yids=12345 , immediately picture nick's avatar 12345 is using is displayed. Your next job is to save that image and use it as an avatar for yourself.
