Theory #1: Our minds are what's holding humanity back from communicating with extraterrestrials
Arguably the most disturbing theory to explain our lack of contact with extraterrestrials comes not from an astronomer, but from psychologist Jack Baird. Working with NASA on SETI in 1982, he suggested that humanity's inability to detect or communicate with extraterrestrial civilizations is due to a fundamental limitation of the human mind.

One popular theory holds that at some point in the future, all matter in the universe, stars and galaxies, subatomic particles, space and time, will be torn apart by the ever-increasing expansion of the universe.
Theory #5: Humans are the rarest treasure in the universe
As far as we know, the rarest thing in the universe is life. At least complex life. The circumstances under which complex life as we know it can form are extremely rare – rarer than the existence of any particular element. It takes more than just the 'raw materials' to form life, it takes incredibly specific conditions and billions of years of near-perfect stability for life to develop on its own…
The study of life, especially human life, has been going on for a long time, scientists have compiled data about human life as well as our culture and knowledge in archives. Aliens may not be hiding from us, but they may be trying to minimize interference and not care about unnecessary contact. Maybe the reason they hide under the oceans of this planet is because life there is dying out.

Eventually all the stars in the universe will die, then the protons will start to decay (theoretically) leaving us in a dark black hole, with only black holes filling the empty void, but eventually even black holes will die, and then the universe will become cold, empty, and dark.

It is possible that the aliens wanted to ensure that we did not leave Earth due to our 'violent' nature and nuclear weapons. Perhaps they would give us a choice, give up nuclear weapons and help humanity reach the next stage of civilization development or destroy our nuclear weapons themselves and keep us prisoners of this world. The aliens could be interdimensional beings who inhabit planets and our world belongs to them. It is unclear why they created humans and allowed them to evolve to the point they have now. If it continued to expand forever, particles would be so far apart that no complex molecules could exist, leaving distances between individual particles in the order of light years. Stars and galaxies do not last forever, and eventually no new ones would be created. The universe would die forever. The "big crunch" theorizes that eventually the expansion will reverse and the universe will collapse into a singularity, as it did just before the big bang, and then another big bang could occur. This cycle could go on forever.
Theory #9: We are an alien project
The aliens are from a ruined planet. They are trying to redesign and restore their species from life forms found on Earth several million years ago, and humans are a part of that redesign, but we are still only a small part of their larger, long-term project.
