Also according to the research results of the Institute of Geophysics, due to its quite specific position, the coastal area of ​​Vietnam is likely to suffer mainly from tsunami source areas located in the East Sea. In the East Sea area, the source area of ​​the North Manila Sea Trough is considered the most dangerous source of tsunami for the coast of Vietnam. The result of calculating the time of tsunami propagation shows that after arising on this source area, tsunamis only take about 2 hours to attack the coast of Central Vietnam.

Also at the conference, Mr. Huynh Van Thang, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control and the City of Da Nang said: 'The threat of tsunamis in Danang could be the cause of a meteorite collision in the East Sea, mountains. fire, land slide, earthquake in the east sea area from Taiwan island to the Philippines. According to experts in this field, the possibility of tsunamis on the Vietnamese coast is not large but actually has this potential. If tsunamis occur, the area most affected is the Central Coast (heaviest from Da Nang to Quang Ngai).
