UK: new device detects counterfeit drugs

UK scientists have just developed a new device that can detect counterfeit drugs. This device, called SORS for short, can check the contents of transparent hard bottles and packaging without having to open them.

However, SORS is not always effective for certain drugs contained in certain types of packaging, and does not detect counterfeit drugs contained in transparent plastic containers.

It is known that this device can be launched at the end of this year, helping authorities detect and seize counterfeit drugs.

According to statistics of the World Health Organization (WHO), 30% of drugs supplied to users in developing countries are fake; In some Eastern European countries, this figure is 10%.
