Ultrasound inside the coronary arteries

Coronary artery ultrasound is a new technique, first applied in the area of cardiovascular intervention. This technique is applied to most patients with heart disease, especially patients with complex lesions, requiring diagnosis before the intervention. This is a great achievement for the cardiovascular industry in Vietnam in particular and the world cardiovascular industry in general.

Ultrasound probe technology is with a micro probe, going deep into the diagnostic coronary artery and giving accurate results to millimeters will be an advantage for doctors but most importantly the patient will timely and accurately cured.

A cardiovascular intervention surgery, the patient is an elderly person with complex heart damage. Before conducting cardiovascular intervention, doctors perform ultrasound in the coronary arteries. Coronary arteries are important blood vessels that work to feed the heart. A small probe with a diameter of about 1mm, is connected directly to the ultrasound machine. A catheter is placed from a patient's thigh to an coronary artery. The ultrasound probe will follow this catheter into the artery, to the lesion and diagnose the disease.

The transducer, after passing through the injury, means that the blockage will be pulled out automatically by the machine system at a speed of 0.5mm / sec. This will help the transducer accurately evaluate the entire coronary system. Ultrasound results not only help doctors to accurately diagnose the disease to millimeters but it also reads the components inside the plaque, the cause of high-risk heart attack for patients .

Dr Lim Soo Tek - Singapore National Heart Center said: " It is unbelievable that Vietnamese doctors are highly skilled and perform the most advanced techniques in the world in terms of working conditions. hard work and many shortages like this: Compared to a few years ago when I came here, the cardiovascular field in Vietnam has made great strides and I am a student of the Vietnam Heart Institute. With this success, I think it is important for doctors to be dedicated and experienced ".

A coronary artery ultrasound takes about 15 minutes , the time is too short for an absolute success obtained after a cardiovascular intervention. Once the Stent is placed in the artery, the patient is able to return to his room in a completely awake state.

A new technique of coronary artery ultrasound was applied in Vietnam 3 months ago. Because the ultrasound probe is expensive, about 2000USD / 1 probe, the Ministry of Health of Vietnam allows it to be reused 3 times, estimated at 10 million VND / patient / time, helping the patient reduce the cost. treatment.
