Device revives dead battery

According to CNN, the batteriser is a stainless steel bar, 0.1 mm thick, containing a microplate that activates the remaining battery power. In fact, the battery starts to drain when it is 20% fresh, and we often throw it away when we have 80% of the energy inside .

The battery pack is like a toothpaste , says Bob Roohparvar, a professor of computer science at the University of California, Berkeley, who created the Batteriser.

" Just squeeze the top of the tube, there's plenty of toothpaste to fill," Roohparvar said.

An unused AA battery contains 1.5 volts of energy. Typically, it will power a TV control for 240 minutes, or 38 minutes for battery-powered toys such as cars and planes.

However, the batteriser will activate the battery power, uptime to 1,185 minutes, more than 5 times for TV control, 335 minutes, 9 times for toys. This means that, when the power level in the battery drops to 0.6 volts, it will be activated, an additional 1.5 volts.

A typical American family has 28 battery-operated devices. Meanwhile, the world has about 5.4 billion battery-powered devices, and every year about 15 billion batteries are consumed, creating a market worth $ 14 billion.

Batteriser can be used for AA, AAA, C and D batteries, sold for less than $ 10/4-pack. An AA battery that costs $ 2.5, the batteriser makes it work eight times as long, or $ 20. At this price, according to Prof. Roohparvar, users can save a lot of money.

The solution, he says, is cheaper than rechargeable batteries, often made of lithium , less compatible with many battery-powered products. Rooparvar is expected to launch the product in the fall, and hopes to partner with big battery companies such as Duracell or Energizer to sell batteries with batteris.
