Use an antique flower vase of 860,000 USD to block objects for 36 years

A rare Chinese antique flower vase from China, produced over 300 years ago, sold for $ 860,000 at an auction in the UK.

According to Telegraph, the owner of the vase does not know its value and uses it as a door blocker for nearly 4 decades. The white porcelain flower vase with pomegranate branches and blue intertwined peach flowers, was made in the 1700s under the Qing Dynasty of China. The vase was sold for $ 860,000 in Derbyshire, England, at the auction held by Hansons Auctioneers on July 3.

The vase was discovered by Adrian Rathbone, director of Hansons Aunctioneers, from a family in England's West Midland county. The owner of the vase inherited it from his aunt and did not know its true value, so he used the vase to block the door for 36 years. The first owner of the vase bought it at a store in 1920 in Cornwall, England.

"When I checked the vase, I was surprised by its 66cm height , " Rathbone said. "The vase is decorated with green motifs and I am particularly attracted to the motifs under the vase".

The vase was then taken to the inspection. According to antiques expert Charles Hanson, the vase is more likely to be decorated by artisans in the Palace of the Citadel. At the foot of the temple were prints of the seal of King Qianlong, who ruled from 1735 to 1799.

"Many important treasures of the Chinese court were taken abroad during the 19th century and wandered to Western countries. This vase is one of them," Hanson said.
