Video: The giant fireball glows in the sky of Mexico

The video posted on SkyAlert recently showed a glowing fireball accompanied by loud bangs in five different states in Mexico on the night of May 23. Scientists at Mexico's Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics (INAOE) have been investigating this phenomenon.

At a later press conference, astronomer Ramon Valdes of INAOE institute reported that the fireball was most likely a small asteroid that flew into the Earth's atmosphere, but it did not cause any damage.

Valdes said the fireball could fly through the Earth's atmosphere at nearly 1,000 km / hr. It interacts with the atmosphere of creating shock waves and people in Mexico can hear and feel these effects.

"We can observe and follow the trajectories of large meteorites, but it is very difficult to detect such small objects. They are remnants of the formation of the solar system and a large meteorite can break. completely destroyed a city, " said Valdes.

Eduardo Bravo, who lives in Puebla, said: "The sky is as bright as a lightning strike and a few seconds later we see an orange object like a rocket".
