Vietnam has the third female Mathematics professor

Associate Professor. Dr. Ta Thi Hoai An has just been approved by the State Council of Professors to qualify for the professor title in 2023. She has become the third female Mathematics professor in Vietnam after nearly 70 years.

Among the 630 candidates recently approved by the State Council of Professors to meet the standards for the title of Professor and Associate Professor 2023, in the Mathematics major, there are 2 professors and 24 associate professors. One of the two professors in the Mathematics department this year is Ms. Ta Thi Hoai An , Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

Ms. An was born in 1972 in Nghe An. She graduated with a bachelor's degree, MSc, and PhD in Mathematics from Vinh University.

Ms. An was awarded a Doctor of Science degree in 2015, majoring in Mathematics by Clermont Ferrand 2 Blaise Pascal University, France. In 2009, she was recognized and appointed to the title of Associate Professor.

From December 1995 to September 2001, Ms. An was a lecturer at Vinh University.

From September 2001 to August 2004, she studied postdoc at the Institute of Mathematics, Taiwan Academy of Sciences.

From September 2004 to March 2005, Ms. An continued to be a lecturer at Vinh University.

From March 2005 to March 2013, she worked as a researcher at the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. From April 2014 until now, she has been a senior researcher at the Institute of Mathematics.

Professor Ta Thi Hoai An guided 3 graduate students to successfully defend their PhD thesis.

She has completed 4 ministerial-level scientific research projects; has published 33 scientific articles, of which 33 scientific articles are in prestigious international journals.

If counting from 1956, the historical milestone in Vietnam's first professor conferment, then Ms. An is the third female professor of Mathematics after nearly 70 years.

The first female Mathematics Professor in Vietnam is Professor. Dr. Hoang Xuan Sinh. Before being recognized by the State as the first female Mathematics Professor in Vietnam (in 1980), Professor Hoang Xuan Sinh was also the first foreign woman to go to Paris (France) to successfully defend her PhD thesis in Mathematics. learn.

For 35 years now, Vietnam's second female Mathematics professor has been recognized as a Professor. Dr. Le Thi Thanh Nhan (2015) , working at the Ministry of Education and Training. When recognized and appointed, Ms. Nhan was a lecturer at Thai Nguyen University.
