Vietnam hosted the ASEM IT Ministerial Conference

From November 28 to December 1, the first meeting of the Minister of Information Technology (IT) and ASEM communication will be held in Hanoi.

According to Deputy Minister of Post and Telematics Nguyen Thanh Hung: '' This is the first Ministerial-level international event held in the framework of Asia-Europe cooperation in the field of IT and communication, with the participation of 42 delegations. signifying ASEM countries and about 250 international and Vietnamese delegates. ''

Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Hung: '' This is a ministerial-level ICT event in the framework of Asia-Europe cooperation for the first time in Vietnam ''.

This is also the result of Vietnam's initiative on " Cooperation in ASEM in IT application for human resource development and capacity building " approved by heads of 39 ASEM member countries at the ASEM 5 Summit - Ha Noi (October 2004). The goal of the conference is to systematize and replicate IT and communication initiatives already implemented in ASEM; aligning these initiatives in other areas where ASEM countries are members; and attracting business interest with IT application goals for the development of the two continent communities.

According to Mr. Hung, the conference will be divided into 2 main parts: State-business dialogue and the meeting of Ministers on ASEM cooperation programs and activities in the coming period. Accordingly, ASEM IT and Communication Ministers will exchange and listen to the recommendations of major IT and communication enterprises in ASEM on IT development and application.

ASEM cooperation programs and activities in the coming period are mentioned with 4 topics: Improving the management environment and the policy of IT and communication development through mechanisms of information sharing and experience between 2 block, research to export legal frameworks; strengthening IT and communication enterprises' capacity through training courses, establishing cooperation forums.

At the same time, the two topics to be discussed are promoting cooperation in IT application between research institutes and training institutions through the implementation of joint research projects between the two sectors on IT application in the field. Social life; and improve IT application in the community to universalize the Internet to schools.
