The Prime Minister has just approved the Biotechnology Development and Application Program in the field of agriculture and rural development by 2020, with a total investment of about VND 1,000 billion in the period 2006-2015.

This capital is reserved for technology research and development activities, trial production of key products and goods at industrial scale and human resource training.

In the 2006-2010 period, the program will conduct new training for 60-80 doctors, 200-250 masters and 500-1,000 agricultural biotechnology technicians.

The program also set a target to 2020, the area of ​​planting new varieties created by biotechnology accounts for over 70%, of which the area for planting genetically modified plants accounts for 30-50%.

In 2006, the Vietnam Environmental Protection Fund was under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, which is expected to invest VND 100 billion in implementing environmental projects such as solid waste treatment, industrial wastewater, and trade village pollution. clean production and socialization of environmental protection.

Deputy Director of Environmental Protection Fund Nguyen Nam Phuong said that after 2 years of operation, the Fund has collaborated with relevant agencies to appraise, evaluate, set up databases, develop environmental treatment plans. environmental protection in many industrial production and craft villages in the locality.

In order to diversify the operational capital, the Environmental Protection Fund is promoting cooperation with international organizations such as the World Bank (WB), International Cooperation Agency of Japan, Denmark and Switzerland. , to promote environmental protection activities in Vietnam.
