Vietnam has won three trophies of the Asia-Pacific Robot Innovation Contest (ABU Robocon) three times in three times. In this year's competition held in Hanoi at the end of August, teachers and students of two Vietnamese robocon teams promised to do their best to keep the trophy stay.

These are two robocon teams that have won the trophy and the second prize in Vietnam Robocon 2007 in June last. In the upcoming Asia-Pacific Robocon competition, the BKDC team of Danang University of Technology will be changed into VN1 team and DT03 team of Hanoi Industrial University to change into VN2 team.

Technically, the two teams have added components and sensors to make robots more flexible and intelligent. So far, the robots of both teams have been much stronger than the national Robocon exam. In addition, each team has designed a new robot.

In terms of tactics, the two teams often compete with each other to find strengths and weaknesses, see the competitions of Chinese and Japanese robocon teams to draw experience . Especially, the University of Industry invited one the number of experienced teachers such as Mr. Huynh Van Kiem, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and a number of strong robocon teams of schools such as Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and University Hanoi Polytechnic to organize a tournament of 11 teams. After the two-day tournament held at Hanoi Industrial University, two teams VN1 and VN2 had the opportunity to rub and draw experiences.

Speaking at the meeting with the two teams today, Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan emphasized that one of the strengths of the Vietnamese people is to promote very well the collective intelligence. The organization of the league to two teams rubbing is very good. From now until the official robocon tournament takes place, a more rehearsal should be held. The members of the two teams should try to practice everyday to be so clever that closing their eyes can be done. In addition, it is necessary to envision all options to deal with the opponent, see if there are any weak points to overcome.

The Minister also proposed drafting regulations on allowing members of the winning team to study abroad with the State budget under the scheme 322 on the condition that these students have good academic performance. In addition, the Ministry will also have a reward for both teachers and students if they win the prize. In the short term, if the teams need funding to upgrade robots, the Ministry may apply for funding to help teams become more confident when competing.

On the other hand, starting next year, universities will join Vietnam Television to organize a domestic robocon competition. The Ministry of Education and Training will coordinate with the Ministry of Science, Technology, Industry, Health, Transport and Transportation to organize a robocon competition for designers towards more practical goals to be able to apply in the economic and social life of the country. The two competitions will take place in parallel and are held annually. Students who have participated in the robocon tournament for students, after graduation, can continue to participate in the new robocon design competition.
