Vietnam welcomed the astronomical phenomenon of the century

In June, Vietnam had the opportunity to admire the most striking astronomical phenomenon of the year, it took 105 years to repeat - Venus went through the sun.

>>>Astronomical phenomenon is extremely rare

The astronomical phenomenon is called Venus transit which took place on June 6. Most of the world from the Americas, Asia, Europe to Africa are observed.

In the world, most of Asia and Europe see phenomena on the morning of June 6 when the sun has just sprung to the east, when Venus is in the sun's disk. In North America, observers will witness the time when Venus began to pass by the disk of the afternoon and evening sun on June 5, at the western horizon.

Venus passes by the solar disk.

Venus is the inner ring planet of the sun, whose speed rotates around the sun larger than the earth. When Venus catches up with the earth and begins to cross the earth, Venus appears as a small spot on the surface of the sun. The phenomenon occurred in 6 hours 40 minutes. For more than 100 years, Vietnam has the opportunity to observe once again the same phenomenon.

"This is the last chance for everyone to see Venus through the solar disk, because it is not until 2117 to appear again," said Tran Thai Son, HCMC amateur astronomical club (HAAC). know.

In Vietnam, we cannot observe the process of entering Venus's solar disk, but will see what happens next until Venus leaves the sun.

"In Vietnam, right from the beginning of the sun, Venus has been in the solar disk, and continues to progress through the solar disk until the end of about 1150 noon on June 6," Thai Son said.

In the history of humans only witnessed Venus moving across the sun six times between 1639, 1761, 1769, 1874, 1882 and 2004. Therefore, this Venus transit is an event not to be missed. For anyone who loves the sky.

Experts warn against looking directly at the sun with their naked eyes, binoculars or telescopes. This will cause eye damage, even blindness.

To observe the sun safely, viewers look through the sun-filtering glass panels, or buy filters that go into their eyes.

The safest and simplest way is to indirectly observe the sun. That is to use a telescope or an eye of binoculars to project images of the solar disk onto a white sheet. The image of the sun and the star will appear on the cover.

Also in the next month, Vietnam will see another astronomical phenomenon, the partial eclipse of June 4. True moon occurs when the moon enters the dark part of the earth. The maximum of this year's eclipse takes place at 18:03 hrs Hanoi time, whereby 37% of the moon's surface will be covered.
