Wear sunglasses even in the 'cold winter' days, if you don't want to pay the price

Ninja Association please quickly add this item to your map set!

We all know in the sun that there are many ultraviolet rays (UV) that can cause sunburn or skin cancer. That is also the reason why cities produce an army with extremely large forces: The army of ninja lead sisters, covering the jackfruit from head to toe every time they go to the street.

However, the mother's ninja costume turned out to be still missing an extremely important accessory. That is the sunglasses.

Don't underestimate! Not wearing sunglasses, even in the "cold winter" days of the North, can cause your eyes to experience some unexpected harm.

Immediate harm

Going to the sun without protecting the eyes, usually you will not feel anything different. However, only after a short time, your eyes may encounter a condition called keratitis due to short exposure to ultraviolet radiation.

The cause of this disease is UV rays that kill the outer cells of the cornea layer. At that time, you have to suffer terrible pain in both eyes. Often symptoms appear if you are constantly exposed to the sun, or continuously for 6 - 12 hours.

You may suffer from severe pain in both eyes

To completely treat this condition, you need to take painkillers and use antibiotics for eye ointment (to prevent infection in the injured cornea). And you need to be patient until the cornea cells regenerate.

And horrible long-term harms

Exposure to UV rays without eye protection may cause permanent damage to the eyes. The harms that your eyes may encounter include:

1. Cataract

This disease makes everything you see opaque, and if left untreated, it can cause blindness. According to statistics, 20% of cataract cases are caused by direct contact with UV rays.

Cataract can be treated with surgery

To treat this disease requires very expensive surgery. Each year, Australia costs about 320 million USD to pay for cataract treatment.

2. Pterygium

This is a benign conjunctival tumor that grows in the cornea. The conjunctiva is a transparent membrane that rests on the sclera (the white part of the eye). Although benign, the presence of this tumor may cause itching, redness and inflammation.

This tumor grows slowly over the years and can interfere with the vision as it grows on the pupil. In some cases, they can cause astigmatism.

To treat a mild form of a tumor, you can make your eyes smaller with a special solution called "artificial tears". If the tumor has affected the vision, you need surgery to remove it.

3. Degeneration of macula

Short-wavelength light rays and blue light rays (present in bright sunlight) can damage the retina, and also macular degeneration.

This is a disease that affects the central part of the retina (the yellow spot), which is responsible for image acquisition. Degeneration of the macula can weaken your vision.

This is the difference between the vision of ordinary people and people with macular degeneration

When you have this disease, you need to be injected directly into the eye to reduce the progression of the disease.

The sad thing is that the disease cannot be cured, you cannot reverse the eye damage when the disease has developed.

4. And even cancer

And of course, we cannot ignore cancer. Although this condition is not common, long-term exposure to UV rays increases the incidence of eye cancer.

Cancer is also on the list

And you know how scary cancer is. The patient may have to remove the entire eye without necessarily healing it.

How do we wear sunglasses to be standard?

Not all sunglasses can be worn. In general, to know how to choose a glass, check out the video immediately below.

Remember, you need to wear sunglasses every time you go out in the morning, because there is no definition of "safety level" for eyes when exposed to UV rays. Even when it is cloudy like the recent "cold winter" days in Hanoi, you should also wear sunglasses, because 90% of the UV rays can pass through the clouds.

The day of the day there is a lot of UV rays in the sun, especially between 10am - 2pm. So at these times, you should stay indoors or try to find shade when you are on the street.

Lastly, children's eyes are very sensitive to UV rays. So let your children wear sunglasses when working outdoors during the day.
