Weight loss helps kill tumors in mice

Studies in the United States have demonstrated that making mice with weight loss by exercise or surgery help kill their skin tumors.

Under the influence of sunlight, the DNA of the damaged cells causes them to self-destruct. This is a preprogrammed " self-destructing " cell (apoptosis) that eliminates damaged cells before they turn into tumors.

Researchers had mice run inside cages in the barn. They run the equivalent of 3 to 5 km per day. After 2 weeks, these mice did not lose weight, but their fat mass decreased. As a result, exercise mice have high levels of self-destructive cells for sun-damaged cells as well as cancer cells.

The researchers repeated the test using surgery to remove fat in mice. They noted that the reduction in fat mass stimulates the self-destruction of cancer cells.

This study may explain weight loss in humans can be a weapon against cancer.
