When the world's tallest and shortest women meet
The world's tallest woman and the world's shortest woman met for afternoon tea in London to celebrate Guinness World Records Day, according to CNN.
According to a statement from Guinness World Records (GWR) on November 20, Rumeysa Gelgi, 215.16 cm tall, and Jyoti Amge, 62.8 cm tall, met at the Savoy Hotel (London, UK).
The world's tallest and shortest women meet.
The height difference between the two women may be as much as 5 feet 11 inches, but the couple are said to be very compatible. "We have a lot in common. We both love makeup, self-care, jewelry and manicures ," Gelgi said.
'Sometimes we find it hard to make eye contact because of the height difference, but it's great,' she added .
Amge said she was "very happy" to meet her co-record holder.
Gelgi, a web designer from Turkey, was confirmed as the tallest woman alive in 2021. Her height is due to an extremely rare condition called Weaver Syndrome . She is the 27th person in the world to be diagnosed with the syndrome, according to GWR.
Gelgi, 27, also holds the records for the largest hands of a woman at 24.93 cm; the longest back of a living woman at 59.90 cm; and the longest ears of a woman at an average size of 9.58 cm.
Gelgi also appeared in a GWR documentary called Rumeysa: Walking Tall, which follows her journey across the US to meet fellow record holders.
Rumeysa Gelgi and Jyoti Amge attract attention when appearing in the same frame.
Amge, an Indian-born actress and media personality, suffers from a bone growth disorder called achondroplasia , which affects the arms and legs. The disorder occurs early in a baby's development in the womb and affects the cartilage tissue that will develop into the child's arms and legs.
The social media influencer has also appeared in the American television series American Horror Story: Freak Show as Ma Petite, which means she is officially the shortest actress ever, GWR reports.
Amge has also appeared on the Italian television show Lo Show Dei Record on various occasions.
GWR editor-in-chief Craig Glenday met the pair in London and said the aim of the meeting was to 'celebrate differences'. 'By bringing together these two amazing and iconic women, they can share their perspectives on life with each other and with us,' Glenday said.
Both Gelgi and Amge have been named GWR ICONS – a new category introduced for the 2025 edition of the record book.
