Why do some fruits have starch?

You do not want to gain weight because you eat starchy foods and you have used fruit because you think they do not contain starch, is this correct?

Why do fruits have starch?

It is a matter of nature. Fruit comes from plants that plants grow in part based on glucose (sugar) - a form of starch. It all starts with photosynthesis - the process by which plants convert light into energy. Some of this energy is used immediately and some are saved. Specifically, glucose is stored as polysaccharides - which are carbohydrate molecules that can be metabolized to help plants grow and serve other needs.

Starch can be divided into 2 types: insoluble and soluble.

Soluble starch known as amylopectin is part of a long-term energy supply. Insoluble starch molecules are too large to break down into energy so they will be stored for use when needed. Meanwhile, soluble starch (amylose) is very easily transformed into energy. Due to the smaller size of the molecules that amylose can move easily between cells. Think about amylose starch like "cash" equivalents , which means you can take it out whenever you want. Meanwhile, insoluble starches are like a term savings deposit at a bank, you can't withdraw as soon as you want as you have cash in your pocket.

When it comes to fruits, many types also contain a significant amount of starch. Banana is a good example, it can be processed in many ways such as boiling, baking, frying. An banana tree contains an average of 57 grams of starch. Meanwhile, the average amount of starch in a banana is 12 grams. A serving of only 1 plum or figs will contain 4 grams of starch and raisins of 2 grams.

So when you eat fruit, you are essentially limiting the consumption of starch (because the fruit contains less starch), rather than completely stopping eating starch.
