Winding stairs like a roller coaster

The terraced construction "SpaceWalk" consists of many spirals located far from the ground, which can evoke the feeling of walking through space.

"SpaceWalk" is a structure located on the hills in Hwanho Park in Pohang City, Korea, 24.6 m high from the ground to the highest point of the spiral. This 333m long steel walkway integrates LED lights in the handrails and steps. In the evening, when the lights are on, the stairs look like a prominent cloud against the night sky. The builders say their aim is to give visitors the feeling of "walking in space".

To climb the walkway that can accommodate 250 people at once, visitors must climb through the central entrance ladder, before choosing to go in either direction. One side is a gentle walkway while the other side is steeper. Both routes end at the metal barrier at the start of the spiral. The highest point that visitors can reach is 20 meters above the ground. After climbing high, they could enjoy a panoramic view of Pohang city and nearby Yeongil Bay.

SpaceWalk also serves as an observatory. The building is described as a perfect place to observe the surrounding area, the night sky, sunrise and sunset. "With its characteristic curves and twists, the building is reminiscent of a roller coaster. This is not the first time the duo has simulated the structure of a roller coaster. In 2011, they once attracted a lot of attention with a walkway named "Tiger and Turtle" in Duisburg, Germany.
