The latest Microsoft operating system will be equipped with Windows Sidebar and Gadgets technology, allowing adding many mini applications such as RSS video and audio right on the desktop.

Gadgets technology gives you quick access to these applications through the icons available on the screen. All icons will be arranged on a scrollable Sidebar, to the right of the desktop. With the latest combination of these Gadgets and Sidebar features, users will not need to access the Internet and web pages to activate frequently used applications. "Nearly the most essential features of a website will be brought to the desktop thanks to Gadgets technology ," said Brian Teutsch, Microsoft's program manager.

Gadgets technology can be developed for features like traffic map display, weather forecast, etc. In addition, you can use tools like Visual Studio to build mini-applications on HTML background.

Analysts call this Gadgets technology a "groundbreaking" application for businesses, because now people don't need to waste time building large-scale Web applications, when they can compress. they enter the employee's desktop.

In fact, the idea of ​​the Sidebar is similar to the Dashboard of Mac OS X, or Yahoo's Widget Engine. Google also has an idea like that, and also the Sidebar inside its Google Desktop download package.
