Winter will disappear in the North after a few years

Will the winter in the North disappear after a few years before the hot sun like summer in the middle of this year?

A new report by the European Environment Agency (EEA) said Europe is warming faster than the rest of the world and forecasting cold winters may disappear by 2080 due to global warming. .

North Vietnam is also experiencing unusually hot days. Every year, starting from December, the Northeast monsoon is strong, the weather is cold. But this year, just looking out the window is to see Hanoi and the northern provinces still sunny as if there is no concept of winter anymore.

Many people call this the worst winter ever seen.

Mr. Luu Minh Hai - Director of Lao Cai Hydrometeorological Center.

In this regard, PV had a talk with weather expert Luu Minh Hai - Director of Lao Cai Hydrometeorological Center.

- In Vietnam, winter is not as cold as in previous years. According to him, whether in the following years, the northern region of our country will completely no longer winter?

If you say it is completely lost, then maybe the summer cycle will be longer and the winter is shorter . As you can see, this winter is also late and may end earlier than every year.

- Europe is forecasted that there will be no winter by 2080, so how is Vietnam forecasted?

The forecast for the winter of 2080 is in Europe and in Vietnam, there is no such long-term study or forecast. We cannot confirm but in the coming years Vietnam will still have winter.

- According to you, what are the culprits of these hot days?

People often mention El Nino, the culprit of natural disasters and hot sunshine. As far as I know, El Nino is an abnormal warming phenomenon of warm water in the eastern Pacific, taking place from 2-7 years. Until now, the official cause of this phenomenon has not been clarified.

- So it can be said that El Nino is the reason that in December in the North is still hot sunshine?

According to the weather experts in the world, the impact of El Nino can last more than 1 year, and can even last for 5 years like the period 1990-1995.

2015 is said to be one of the hottest years, under the influence of El Nino. During the summer, there are times when temperatures in some countries like India hit 60 degrees Celsius, causing asphalt to melt.

In Vietnam, according to information from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, this year is also the year that farmers have to deal with the most severe drought ever.

- El Nino actually has been around for a long time, but why are there so many times to have such terrible effects?

This El Nino phenomenon has been around for a long time and we are the meteorologists who have never been officially trained yet. El Nino started talking a lot from about 10 years ago. Especially when advanced countries are discovered after monitoring in the Pacific region.

In the past, people had researched, but it is likely that only in that country will use it much, but now that this phenomenon happens all over the world, the hydrometeorology industry in Vietnam has started to care. The concepts of El Nino we have not yet learned and mainly self-study and online reading and books and some training classes.

Snow may stop falling in Sapa due to the high urbanization rate.(Illustration).

- With the speed of urbanization and the growing flow of people, Sapa, do you worry that the snow in this area also stops falling?

True to your question, with this urbanization situation more or less affecting temperature. Normally urbanization has caused temperature to rise. In addition, the trend of global warming makes the possibility of snow falling in Sapa in the coming time less.

Under normal rule, snow falls in late December, in January. It is rare for snow to fall in Sapa in February. But the observation in Sapa from 1956 until now, most of them fell in January. The latest years were the Winter-Spring year of 1967 - 1968, which was cold to the record that it fell on February 14. Especially the 2014 fall on March 16 is the last snowfall ever.

Thank you Sir!
