Women suffer from cancer better than men
Women with cancer have more chances to survive than men even when the cancer they have acquired cannot be cured, a new study finds.
Cancer cell
This study was introduced on Tuesday at a conference of American universities specializing in breasts in Montreal, Canada.
The researchers conducted a survey of 18,967 cancer cell infections and found that 54% of women survived about 5 years after the diagnosis compared to 40% in men.
Even in cases where the patient is incapable of treatment, 25% of women are less likely to die from the disease than men. Women who received cancer treatment through surgical methods and (or) chemotherapy treatments had a 30% greater chance of surviving than men, the study showed.
This result also means that biological differences play a very important role in diseases and can affect the testing process, as well as indicate potential opportunities for new drugs, researcher Juan P. Wisnivesky said.
