According to the WWF Report, if the area of wetlands is lost, the raw materials and services provided by these freshwater systems cannot be calculated in cash.

Therefore, in order to protect and sustain the wetlands, WWF recommends that policy makers and communities should soon have proper behavior with this resource.

According to the Department of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, Vietnam has now identified 68 economically valuable wetlands and sustainably protected the living environment, especially this is a source of water supply and storage. Sweet mainly for local people. However, these wetlands are gradually shrinking due to drought and being over-exploited for unsustainable human use.

The Department of Environmental Protection said that Vietnam's system of wetlands includes areas of rivers, lakes, mangrove forests, tidal flats and coastal bays, which are home to over 2,600 aquatic species. , to regulate temperature, humidity, rainfall and environment for development of aquatic and forestry resources.

Scientists have calculated that 1 ha of mangrove forest can reduce over 90 tons of CO2 per year for the living environment; 1 ha of wetlands in estuaries, lagoons, tidal flats are capable of generating nearly 4,600 USD / year. These are huge economic and environmental resources for local people if they know the proper exploitation.
