Yahoo launches new mobile search service

March 20 Yahoo officially introduced a completely new mobile Internet search system with the ability to return results directly related to the location where mobile device users are living.

Initial service is tested in the US market. It is expected that by the end of this year the service will be expanded to global markets.

" We want every mobile phone with a browser to use our search service ," said Marco Boerries, vice president of Yahoo Connected Life. " We provide search results that match our customers' requirements and not a long list of web links ."

Yahoo's new oneSearch service is completely different from the current Internet search service for PCs. Instead of displaying information about a movie or commentary on the movie, Yahoo's search service will correctly display the list of theaters near the location of the user currently showing the movie.

Users only need to enter the ZIP code CODE or the city name can find results directly related to the place where they live. Google also has similar services, but users have to go through a few search steps to get the desired results.

Yahoo said it could now offer one-search services to about 85% of US-equipped mobile devices. This result was due to Yahoo signing a contract to integrate Yahoo Go service packages - including oneSearch - with big names in the mobile device manufacturing industry such as Nokia, Motorola, and Samsung. Electronics and LG Electronics.

Besides, Yahoo is also committed to helping advertisers reach mobile customers through its search service. Ads with oneSearch links will be attached to a small banner.

Analysts say the move has helped Yahoo overcome its direct competitor Google one step in the mobile search service market.

" This is not a shock to Google, but we have to admit that Yahoo has taken a very reasonable step, " said Gartner analyst Mike McGuire.

Previously, the rivalry between Yahoo and Google in the market looked exactly the same as a cat-and-mouse game. In recent times, Yahoo has targeted the search and mobile market. The result of this strategy is that Yahoo has overtaken Google.

The strong development of networks and mobile devices equipped with browsers and web browsing capabilities make Internet companies constantly compete with each other in providing a wide range of web services to mobile networks.
