Yahoo regained search market share from Google
Although Google 's pages continue to be the most query users place in July 2006, the search portal lost 1% of the market share to rival Yahoo.
In the US, Google's search market share is 43.7%; Yahoo was 28.8%, up 0.3% from June 2006, but still down 1.7% from the same period last year. The market share of MSN's search page remains unchanged - 12.8%.
Yahoo and Google continue to dominate the browser-based search market (web search). Both firms account for 95% of all Web search engines.
According to comScore Networks Inc., there were all 6.3 billion search queries in the US in July 2006, down 2% from the previous June.
