Yahoo upgraded features for Yahoo Mail

Today (August 27), Yahoo Inc will add a new set of features to its free email service on Yahoo Mail.

The goal of this level of Yahoo is to integrate all services such as sending email, instant messaging or SMS text messages to mobile phones into a single web interface. This means that users will not need to start or switch between many different applications or devices.

It is expected to take at least 6 weeks, the entire 254 million Yahoo Mail users worldwide can fully utilize the new features.

Now they will no longer have to "wrestle" with small and difficult-to-use keyboards on mobile devices, but can freely edit SMS with a PC keyboard to send to children.

Yahoo this time is forced to upgrade Yahoo Mail because the competition in the free web mail market is becoming more and more intense. Yahoo Mail and Microsoft Hotmail still maintain dominance in the market. However, the potential to retain that position now seems very difficult when there is more Google Gmail appearance. Since its official launch in April 2004, this service has grown extremely fast and strongly.

Last May Yahoo officially removed the limit of storage capacity for Yahoo Mail users. Meanwhile, Google's Gmail service also incrementally increased its capacity every second, currently up to about 3GB. Under that pressure, Microsoft recently announced that it will increase Hotmail free mailbox sizes from 2GB to 5GB.

It can be said that this upgrade is the biggest change for Yahoo Mail since the service was officially launched in 1997. This upgraded version will also end the testing period of the new and added Yahoo interface. Add new features, upgrade mailbox search tool, enhance the ease of use of editorial contacts database.

Users who do not want to upgrade for some reason can still opt to use the old version of Yahoo now called 'Yahoo Classic'.
