YouTube helps catch theft
A thief was sentenced and fined after being identified by the victim with a video clip post on the world's largest video sharing site today.
The video recorded the image of a man walking around the store slowly, holding a laptop, slipping it into a thick coat and leisurely walking over the cashier.
The theft occurred at a local electronic counter in the town of Greymouth, South Island.
The only thing the unsuspecting thief was was that his behavior was recorded from AZ and posted on YouTube, on the soundtrack being the sly song of the comedy "The Pink Panther" (shown in Vietnam under the title "Diep pink newspaper ").
Unexpectedly, this video clip has attracted 500,000 hits worldwide since its release so far. An audience unknowingly recognized the thief and phoned the police.
Finally, Dawson Anthony Bliss, 50, was arrested by police, dragged to court and sentenced to theft. Greymouth District Court judge asked him to pay a $ 1485 fine and compensate the shop for $ 1487.
