According to the Telegraph, here are 100 research specimens preserved in formaldehyde containers. Austin Hospital moved the brains to the University of Texas 28 years ago under a temporary agreement for educational and research purposes. Because the laboratory only had enough space to store 100 specimens, the rest were transferred to the basement.

The school's management board has not yet reached an accurate conclusion about the reason why the research samples disappeared, but doubted that this could be a joke for students.

"We think someone has taken these brains, but we don't know for sure," said psychology professor Tim Schallert on December 3.

In a recent announcement, the school confirmed the specimens were strictly stored, and will conduct investigations to find the source of the incident.

Among the brain specimens of the alleged Charles Whitman, the culprit once climbed the bronze tower on the 28th floor of the University of Texas to fire. 16 people died in this incident in 1966.
