10,000 billion VND flood-proofing project of Ho Chi Minh City
With 6 tide prevention gates, 8km of dykes along the Saigon River, the project is expected to solve the flooding situation for 570km 2 with 6.5 million HCMC residents.
The HCM City People's Committee has just approved the project "Addressing flooding in the Ho Chi Minh City area taking into account the climate change factor (phase 1) " in the form of BT (building - transferring) and delivering to the private corporation. being an investor with a total of nearly VND 10,000 billion.
The project will build nearly 8km of embankments in the vital sections along the Saigon River - the section from Vam Thuat to Kinh River and 25 small culverts under the dyke - the section from Vam Thuat to Muong Chuoi.
The project also has 6 tidal control gates : Ben Nghe, Tan Thuan, Phu Xuan, Muong Chuoi, Cay Kho and Phu Dinh.In which, Muong Ban sewer system operates on the principle of the rainy season when the upstream water level is greater than the downstream water level, the water outlet will be opened and vice versa.
In the dry season, the drainage gate will open when the upstream water level is greater than the downstream and the downstream water level is greater than + 0.6m (the lowest water level needs to ensure the ecological environment inside the sewer). The culvert will close the tide barrier when the upstream water level is +0,6 m and the downstream is greater than or equal to + 0,6 m.At the same time, the sluice gate will be closed when the downstream water level is less than + 0.6 m.
The sluices are designed 40-160m wide, 3.5-10m elevation elevation. Ships can transport when the door is fully opened. In the picture is the perspective of Ben Nghe sewer system .
Perspective of Sewer sewer system .It also builds a central manager for the whole project, a monitoring and data collection control system.
The Phu Dinh sluice gate, built in districts 1, 4, 7, 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh, will start construction in December this year and be completed after 3 years.
Phu Xuan sewer perspective . According to the investor, when the project is completed, it will solve people's obsession with flooding caused by rising tide, helping to proactively deal with climate change for the core zone with an area of 570km 2 , about 6, 5 million people belong to the right bank of the Saigon River and the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
The project also helps to actively reduce the water level in canals to improve the drainage capacity of urban drainage projects, contributing to improving the landscape and environment. In the picture is the Tan Thuan sewer perspective.
