4 foods should be eaten after vomiting

After vomiting, you should suck cold ice, eat some biscuits, and avoid consuming tea, coffee, carbonated drinks and vegetable juices.

According to The Health Site, nausea and vomiting are common problems you may face even when you're not pregnant or acid reflux.

Dr. Purnima Suhas Prabhu, a doctor at the Hinduja PD Hospital, Mumbai, India, said if nausea and vomiting after a head injury or abdominal pain, you should immediately consult a doctor. However, if you are prone to this symptom due to stress, anxiety, some of the following foods can soothe the stomach and prevent nausea.

Ice

Dr. Purnima said stress-induced nausea or vomiting is a common condition for students before each exam because when worried, the body produces more acid. After vomiting, many people often drink plenty of water. However, you should avoid drinking a large amount of water immediately after vomiting because it can make the stomach heavier. Instead, you should suck 2-3 ice cubes to prevent vomiting.

Cookies

Nutrition experts recommend pregnant women eat hungry cookies in the morning to prevent nausea and vomiting. If you are susceptible to motion sickness, you should have a package of cookies in your pocket every time you go away.

Yogurt or curd

You can drink a glass of cold milk but yogurt is a better choice because it is easy to digest. However, you should remember to consume only fresh milk without flavor. They will soothe the stomach, reducing the maximum acidity.

Food should and should not be eaten

A few hours after vomiting, the worst thing you do for your body is to consume spicy foods. This can increase acid levels, trigger nausea. You should eat light food like bread.

Also, after vomiting, you should avoid consuming some foods such as:

  1. Raw vegetables or vegetable juices : Eating raw vegetables with a high fiber content can cause stomach irritation because they are not easily digested. This is similar to vegetable juices.
  2. Tea or coffee : Caffeine is a substance that can increase acid levels, leading to nausea and vomiting. Therefore, you should not consume coffee or tea, foods high in caffeine after vomiting.
  3. Carbonated drinks : Consumption of carbonated beverages can lead to flatulence, while they also contain caffeine, which irritates the stomach lining. You will feel uncomfortable and nauseous again after consuming this drink.
