After three years of testing and development, Netherlands-based Squad Mobility has finally launched the world's first solar-powered city car. The vehicle is called Squad Solar City Car - a solar-powered vehicle designed for carpooling and MaaS (mobility as a service).
Squad's mini four-wheeler is 2 m (6.5 ft) long, 1.2 m (3.9 ft) wide and 1.6 m (5.2 ft) tall. The car has a storage capacity of 68 liters or 243 liters, when the seats are folded.

Squad's solar vehicle is considered a light electric vehicle in the European Union, under the L6e category, which means you only need a motorcycle license to be able to ride it. While specific regulations may vary from country to country, in general, drivers 14 years of age and older can get behind the wheel of a Solar City Car.
In addition, users can remove the doors if they want to save energy while increasing airflow. However, air conditioning is also offered as an optional extra for the vehicle.

Powering the Solar City Car are two 2 kW (2.7 hp) electric motors placed in the rear wheel and four 1.6 kWh battery packs, providing a range of up to 100 km in one go. charging. This SEV model can reach speeds of up to 45 km/h. It has solar panels on the roof, which can add up to 20 kilometers of range per day in the summer. In addition, the car also comes with regenerative braking and 220V charging. The battery packs are all easily replaceable and portable.
In terms of safety, the manufacturer has equipped the car with a large anti-roll frame as well as a collision structure at the front and rear.
Squad Mobility's Solar City Car is currently available for pre-order as a private vehicle in Europe, and it will also be offered as a shared mobility solution through an app. The car has a starting price of 6,250 Euro (about 150 million VND) and goes up to 9,300 Euro (224 million VND) if the buyer chooses full doors with windows, air conditioning, and other extras. Thus, the cheapest version of this car model is equal to the price of Honda SH 150i 2021 scooter in Vietnam market.
