A lot of anesthesia reduces memory in children

According to scientists at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden), multiple anesthesia can cause loss of many brain stem cells, impairing memory and learning ability in children.

These scientists conducted experiments on mice to see what happens when they come into contact with a strong magnetic field. They found that the magnetic field did not affect this rodent, but repeated anesthesia for magnetic resonance imaging affected the original brain cells.

'We found that repeated anesthesia kills a majority of stem cells in the hippocampus - an important area that determines memory. Stem cells in the hippocampus can make neurons and glial cells. The formation of neurons determines memory , 'said Klas Blomgren, one of the authors of the study.

Memory loss problems in pups who are anesthetized until adulthood. However, adult mice do not have this problem because the mouse brain stem cells may be more sensitive.
