Add 2 security bugs in Windows Mobile
Trend Micro security firm warns two new security holes discovered in Windows Mobile operating system that may cause the device to hang. In it, an error belongs to Internet Explorer browser and an error belongs to Pictures & Video application.
Devices that use these two applications will become the target of a denial-of-service attack if the user accesses a website or opens a file with a JPEG image of the exploit code.
Microsoft has also warned users about these two security issues. But so far there has not been any information regarding two security bugs revealed.
There are two versions of the Windows mobile operating system that have been confirmed to contain two of these security bugs, including Windows Mobile 2003 and 5.0.
In the case of Pictures & Video security error, if the user opens a malicious JPEG image file, the device may hang up for about 10-15 minutes without any notice.
Meanwhile, security flaws in Internet Explorer can cause buffer overflows that cause IE to hang completely. If this happens, the device will become unstable and need a full reset to be able to use IE again normally.
Microsoft has not yet released any patches to completely fix the problem. Trend Micro recommends that users should constantly update the firmware and avoid accessing untrusted sites.
And although the threat of virus or malware attacks on mobile devices is still relatively low, experts warned that such vulnerabilities could pave the way for an increase in malicious code. Smart phone.
Trend Micro also said that new security issues will also open up an extremely new potential market for security companies - the market of mobile security applications.
