Again earthquakes in Yunnan, China injured 19 people

On August 17, Yunnan Province, southwestern China, said at least 19 people were injured in a magnitude 5 earthquake that occurred the same day in Vinh Thien district, Zhao Thong city.

According to local officials, the earthquake damaged more than 1,400 houses, of which 42 were completely collapsed.

About 100km of roads and tunnels and communication systems in 5 towns were seriously damaged.

Nearly 1,000 local people, police and soldiers are coordinating rescue at the earthquake area.

Nearby cities have sent about 200 firefighters to support earthquake recovery.

The local geological agency said that at 8 am local time, a total of 22 large and small aftershocks occurred.

China's Yunnan province often hit earthquakes, causing major casualties.

Earlier, on August 3, there was a 6.5 magnitude earthquake in the city of Zhao Thong, killing more than 600 people and destroying 80,000 houses.
