"Each settlement consists of many villages surrounding the towns. They stretch across the Amazon basin. Each town has an area of about 60 hectares. These settlements are scientifically planned and it seems that each district is there is a separate management apparatus, " said Professor Mike Heckenberger, a member of the research team.

Although the ruins deep underground, they were still discovered by the Kuikuro tribe's native people, believed to be direct descendants of those who built settlements. The expert team found garbage, pottery fragments, water, pond, earth walls, fertilizer and fish farming tools.

Like medieval European and Greek cities, each settlement is surrounded by large walls and has an identical main road leading to the central square. All major roads are located in the northeast - southwest direction.

The expedition team said that the population in the communities here was driven away by the Europeans after they discovered America. In addition, they can also be killed by diseases brought by white people.
