AMD discounts on processors
AMD has just announced a price cut for some mid and low-end Athlon 64 X2 processor versions after it is reported that Intel also plans to cut prices for Pentium D products.
According to the announcement on AMD's website, prices for high-end Athlon products such as the FX series, X2 5600+ and 5400+ are unchanged; while the X2 5200+ is reduced from $ 403 to $ 295. Other AMD chips also dropped, averaging between $ 15-25.
The price of the Athlon 64 3800+ single core chip also dropped from $ 108 to $ 101; however, the price of the Athlon 64 3500+ version is unchanged. Meanwhile, the prices of lower-speed CPUs like Athlon 3200+ were no longer listed on AMD's website.
Prices for low-end Sempron chips also dropped. Specifically, the Sempron 3200+ dropped from $ 67 to $ 51; The Sempron 3000+ (cache version 256KB and 128KB) decreases from 56USD to 41USD (buy a 1000 pack).
