America invented a test that can detect 50 forms of cancer

A groundbreaking new blood test that can detect more than 50 forms of cancer will be tested in 2021.

Test Galleri , known as the "Holy Grail of curing cancer" , will be tested on 165 thousand patients. If the test is successful, this test will be available to more than a million people within the next 5 years.

Scientists believe this test could save thousands of lives every year, because it detects cancer before symptoms appear. The test detects the disease by looking for DNA secreted by the tumor in the patient's blood.

Mr. Simon Stevens, chief executive of the British National Health Service (NHS), called this discovery "a watershed moment" . According to him, this test will be especially effective for cancers that are difficult to diagnose.

The test looks for chemical changes called methylation in extracellular DNA that can promote tumor growth. When cancer is detected, the test can show exactly which part of the body the signal is coming from.

It is believed that the above test makes it possible to start treatment for patients earlier, which will significantly increase the chances of recovery.

A study this year of 1,200 patients found that the test successfully determined which part of the body the tumor was in with up to 96% accuracy. Furthermore, only 1% of tests for diagnosing cancer in humans give false results.

In 12 cases, including ovarian cancer and lung cancer, tests did not detect the disease, with the majority of cases in the early stages.

In cases of pancreatic cancer where the disease has rarely been detected in its early stages, the above test has identified the disease in its earliest stages at a rate of 63%.
