Scientists at Wake Forest University, Carolina, USA have successfully recreated bladder by taking the patient's bladder cells in the laboratory for seven to eight weeks and then directly grafting them to the patient.

The group of scientists treated seven patients with congenital and spinal cord-induced hernia that led to weak bladder.

They took a bladder biopsy from the patient. Then, separate the muscle cells and special bladder cells called urothelial cells placed on the bladder "scaffold".

These cells are kept in the laboratory for seven to eight weeks.

By surgery, the researchers attached the bladder in the laboratory to the bladder of the patient and monitored this development process for 5 years.

The results showed that the bladder function improved without any reaction.

The success of the study was published in The Lancet on April 4 and was evaluated as a medical breakthrough toward development, replacing other damaged parts of the body.

Currently, by this method, the scientists are transplanting 20 different tissues of laboratory components such as blood vessels and the heart.
