This new antibiotic is called teixobactin , which works differently from previous antibiotics. Scientists believe that bacteria will be very resistant to this antibiotic.
UPI news agency quoted Professor Kim Lewis at Northeastern University (USA), said teixobactin is a compound with self-evolutionary mechanism to resist drug resistance. Normally, bacteria are always looking for resistance to antibiotics, but in this case there is no value.
Thanks to the device called iChip , developed by Professor Kim Lewis, scientists have developed unicellular organisms in their natural environment.
UPI said, teixobactin is one of more than two dozen newly discovered antibiotics using this iChip device. Although it has not been tested in humans, it has cured many infections in mice.
It is expected that within the next two years, teixobactin will be tested on humans.
