Earlier about 4:00 am on October 28, ' huge death hole' suddenly appeared on the inter-village road in village 2, Quy Loc commune. At first, the crater was only about 1.5m wide, but only a few hours later was continuously expanded. Half of the concrete inter-village road and many trees and rocks were swept underground. Many households near the site were ordered to evacuate people and property to safety.

Authorities also forbid people to drill wells, suspend blasting and quarrying activities within a distance of 500 m.
