Application of biotechnology in the processing industry

Vietnam will build and strongly develop biotechnology to serve the processing industry to produce good quality food processing products to meet consumer demand and export.

This is one of the main contents of the Decision on approving the "Biotechnology development and application project in processing industry by 2020" issued by the Prime Minister on January 25.

According to this Decision, the goal of 2010 is to research and create advanced biotechnology in the country, industrial production of enzymatic products (including recombinant enzymes), micro products biologically active substances meet the demand of processing industry development.

Building and strongly developing biotechnology to serve the processing industry for industrial scale production of good quality food and consumer goods, meeting consumer demand and export. .

In the period of 2011-2015, it will strongly apply modern biotechnology in the processing industry; approaching, mastering and rapidly developing modern biotechnology to create new strains of microorganisms with good quality, high and stable fermentation performance in industrial-scale production; Production of recombinant enzymes.

To strongly and sustainably develop the biotechnology industry in service of the processing industry, creating a favorable market to promote production, business and service of products in the processing industry. Biotechnology in the processing industry will contribute from 20-25% of the total contribution of science and technology to the added value of the processing industry, by 2020 it will strive to achieve more than 40 %

It is known that the total state budget capital to implement the Project's contents in the period to 2015 is expected to be about VND 500 billion (about VND 50 billion each year), which is spent on basic research tasks;Project P (research and development of product testing) is entitled to a recovery of 60% of the total project cost.

The main tasks of the scheme are : Basic research, applied research, scientific research and technological development . focusing on microbiological technology (microbial fermentation for production and processing) food, production and testing of industrial products of microbiological preparations) and enzymatic and protein technologies (creating quality assurance foods, research and application of modern biotechnology to produce export some recombinant enzymes for processing industry).

Formation and development of biological industry to promote production, business and services in the processing industry. Accordingly, businesses of all economic sectors will be established and encouraged to invest in activities of receiving and transferring technology to sustainably develop a wide range of effective processing and application industries. Results of scientific and technical advances to produce and trade key products and goods in the processing industry create, meet the demand of consumption and export.

Building potential for biotechnology development and application in the processing industry both in terms of human resources and technical facilities. Enhance international cooperation to develop biotechnology in the processing industry.
