Asia's largest coal-fired power plant is coming soon

Shenhua Group, China will build Asia's largest coal-fired power plant in the city of Beihai in the next five years, to reduce the power shortage in the dry season.

Accordingly, officials of China's largest coal company and leaders of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region signed an agreement to build a thermal power plant with a capacity of 8-gigawatt on December 26.

China has been reliant on nearly 70% of its coal-fired power needs in recent years as its economy has grown rapidly. Earlier, the country's 17 provinces had to conduct rotating outages, as coal supplies did not meet the demand for thermal power plants.
