Silver is considered the ideal metal to kill bacteria. Silver nanoparticles were added to fibers, plastics and metals to produce biomedical applications. For example, people coated silver nanoparticles on medical tape to disinfect wounds, or coated silver nanoparticles on fibers to create socks that do not stink.

But so far, scientists have yet to find a way to put silver nanoparticles on paper. Each silver nanoparticle is about 1 / 50,000 diameter in diameter. But, according to MSN, using high-frequency sound waves, experts from the Institute of Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials at Bar-Ilan University in Israel have done this. They call the new product ' killer paper ' because of its bactericidal feature.

In tests, ' killer paper ' killed E. coli and S. aureus - two types of bacteria that cause food poisoning.

' The antiseptic ability of killer paper shows that it can become food wrappers to increase storage time ,' said Aharon Gedanken, the research leader.

In addition, the technique of coating silver nanoparticles on paper can also be applied to many other nanomaterials to create precious properties such as waterproofing, conducting electricity at different levels and toughness.

' Those properties can lead to many interesting applications ,' the team commented.
