Bacteria trapped in glacial layers for thousands of years can help people live 140 years, Russian scientists have said.
Scientists at the Institute of Chemical Biology thawed the bacteria found in Mount Mamontova in northern Yakutia Republic and injected them into mice and flies. The lifespan of mice and experimental flies increased by an average of 300 days, twice as high as normal.

Bacteria also help flies, rats become healthier, more flexible and increase muscle activity.
'It's still early to say something. But these bacteria are effective in flies and mice, there is no reason they do not work in other animals', Anatolia Brushkova, team leader, said.
