Speaking at the meeting with the leaders of Binh Dinh province, Mr. Cao Duc Phat shared the difficulties of the province. He said that the drought situation in Binh Dinh was serious and noted that the province should concentrate on implementing well the anti-drought solutions.

In the immediate future, the province should review and have technical solutions for each specific crop in each region, trying not to desert production land due to lack of water to avoid affecting income and people's lives.

The provincial agricultural sector not only focuses on rice, but also transforms the area of intensive crop cultivation more strongly in the absence of water to diversify crops and livestock, to help farmers raise and cultivate sustainably, eat well, avoid food shortages in rural areas. In addition, the province needs to send staff directly to instruct farmers on water saving methods, shallow road irrigation .

The report of Binh Dinh province said: there are 126/161 water reservoirs in the province, so the province's ability to ensure irrigation water in the summer-autumn season is only 33,666 / 50,116ha, reaching 65% of the planned sowing area grow.

To ensure irrigation water, Binh Dinh Provincial People's Committee directs localities to reduce the area of rice cultivation, converting upland crops on rice land to 6.447ha.

The area of unproductive land due to lack of water is 3,057ha. According to the forecast of hydrometeorology industry, the shortage of water, drought, saline intrusion will occur on a large scale and more severe right from the beginning of the summer-autumn crop this year.
