Scientists at the Swiss Bird Research Institute and the University of Applied Sciences Bern in Burgdorf, collected data showing that the Alpine swallow does not need time off during migration from birth Produced to the winter and returned the following year, LiveScience reported.

To collect data, researchers equipped 6 small cards for 6 birds. The team analyzed accelerated samples collected on the cards to determine when birds flapped their wings, hovered and rested. The results show that they fly and constantly flap their wings when migrating across the Sahara and the wintering period in sub-Saharan Africa, the only resting period appears at birth in Switzerland.

Migratory marine animals such as dolphins and many other fish often consume less energy than birds. Even so, Alpine urchins don't need to stop to replenish energy because they can eat plankton in the air like infected bacteria, fungi, seeds, spores and small insects. stuck in the air stream.

Whether or not this bird is sleeping during migration is still unclear. However, not spending a significant amount of rest time suggests that Alpine urchins may not need much sleep while migrating.
