Birds set a record for 9 days without a break

A bird with red hair (godwit) flew from Alaska to New Zealand for 9 days without stopping to eat. New Zealand and US scientists have followed this 11,500km journey through satellite.

They affirmed that this is the longest bird migratory flight recorded so far. Scientists noted that the bird named E7 did not fly along the Asian coast but flew directly across the Pacific Ocean.

"This observation demonstrates that birds are strange creatures and withstand extreme conditions , " explains researcher Phil Battley of Massey University (New Zealand).

Scientists did not take pictures of the E7 bird when it flew back to New-Zealand, as it was present in an area of ​​difficult access to swamp.

Next year, biologists will experiment with an empty bird to determine whether the male and female have the same immigration habit.
