Blind people have extraordinary memories
Blind people are very good at remembering things in the right order.
When the vision is lost, the world is perceived by certain sequences, biochemist Ehud Zohary at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem said. For example, to identify objects that are not significantly different, such as yogurt types, blind people often place objects in their own order and mark them in their minds, such as "the second thing. " left hand ".
Zohary and his colleagues believe that because blind people often use tricks to memorize objects, they have developed a superior memory skill.
Scientists tested 19 blind and 19 blind eyes. In the first lesson, participants listened to a list of 20 words and had to reread them. The second test, they not only memorize words but also remember their order.
Blind people recall 20-35% more words than bright eyes, indicating they have a better general memory. But their biggest advantage is being able to remember words in the right order - twice as high as ordinary people.
"About 20-30% of the brain is for images. In blind people, their brain region is not active so it was intended for other purposes, related to memory and language processing." , Zohary said.
