Mounted on the steering wheel, this tiny biometric device is capable of 'reading' the veins (veins) of the driver's finger and compares it to the stored vein profile. If the vein pattern is correct, the device will perform the task quickly.

Masahide Hayashi, Hitachi's sensor design engineer, explains, "When I put my index finger in the reader, it would recognize me now. . If I put that finger again, it will start the engine immediately. '

'When the middle finger is released, the reader will send commands to the player to open the songs that I pre-registered according to preferences. The thumb is used to open the car's navigation system.

"With this finger vein recognition technology, you just use your finger as a switch without taking your eyes off the running track." This will contribute to enhancing the safety of the vehicle.

Hitachi hopes that in three or four years, this useful device will be put into practical use.
