According to the design, in addition to the 17-meter-long core module on display, Thien Cung will have two other modules for scientific experimentation and equipped. The 60-ton lab on this orbit will be a long-lived and working place for groups of three astronauts, serving biological research and non-gravity environments.

The fabrication and assembly of Thien Cung is expected to be completed in 2022 and the station will have a life span of about 10 years. Meanwhile, the ISS, a cooperative product between the US, Russia, Canada, Europe and Japan, has been in operation since 1998, will be decommissioned in 2024.

Meanwhile, China will have a single space station in orbit, although its size is much smaller than ISS - which weighs 400 tons.

The European Space Agency has sent astronauts to China to train, getting ready for missions on Thien Cung when the space station is launched into space.
