Mr. Duong's flight to space in 2003 brought China to become the third country in the world to own technology to bring people to space, after Russia and America. In 2001, China launched space into the experimental space station Thien Cung 1 , since then, it has twice successfully assembled assembled Shenzhou ships with this station. Thien Cung 1 is expected to be replaced by Thien Cung 2 station, wider, weighing about 60 tons, equal to 1/6 of the International Space Station (ISS) operated by 16 countries.
China is banned from participating in the ISS, mainly due to opposition from the US because of political differences between the two countries and concerns that Beijing's space program is closely related to military purposes. However, China still established close relations with Russia's space program, cooperating with France and Germany in experimental scientific research on astronautics.
